Yeah, I think we were a bit cocky Sven.

Mind you, who wouldn't be coming up against your pack of dickheads.

Tell you one thing, you get Smith and Warner, and there's not an awful lot left.

We just couldn't get both of them out at the same time.

Jonah! Thank God you are ok. I thought you might have done something stupid.

Like winning the toss at Canberra and bowling.
Hahahahahahabahaha

You've got "The Grade Cricketer" written all over you Sven.

I love the Big Bash probably because I am more interested in seeing the fringe Australian players who get a run because Tests go on at the same time.
Am sure more of the England players would rather spend Jan in Aust than be flogging around India playing ODI's.

Have you ever tried to bowl leg spin?
As a shit one myself you very quickly realise that Warne was an outrageous genius in being able to pitch the ball time after time after time.

Big Bash is awesome, best comp for me.

Do wonder why so many pace bowlers in this day and age though haven't learnt the art of the Yorker. You don't see them getting hit anywhere for 6 unless they get it wrong.

Agreed, though it's a sort of role reversal - the seamers become the bowlers who hold up the score. But you don't need 4 of them. And it constantly perplexes me that we have spinners that can't consistently find the right areas - they'll always be limited on how far they can spin the ball, not everyone is a Shane warne, but there's no excuse for not getting line and length right.

Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
To be honest I wouldn't judge any bowler on what they do in t20.
Most of the time they are just fodder for blokes with massive bats and the best ones seem to have 6 different slower balls.

t20 is a bit of fun and still don't think national teams should play it.
Am looking forward to the Big Bash starting next week though.

Feel free to NOT stick up Stokes T20 figures in the same period please Sven!!! :o(

Bloody rained the other day during a CSA game and they showed the world cup final highlights again.

Other overs have gone for more runs in the past, but I really don't think I've ever seen a worse over bowled by a player. Seeing it a second time was even worse.

Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
If I was an England seamer and was asked to go on a tour to India I'd decline, it's a waste of time.

Might as well have 6 batsman and 5 spinners.

Terrible wickets.

Ben Stokes ... last 12 months in Tests
Batting average 45
Bowling 33 wickets at 25

England need to have an all rounder who's stats back up being called an all rounder.

Like Big Timmy Bresnan.

Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
The series has been closer than 3-0.
In the 3rd Test England didn't make enough batting first but should still have got a first innings lead.
They let India get away from 300/6 to 631 in this Test too.

Shami has been impressive but they still won without him.
England had one seamer too many but obviously don't trust Ballance or Duckett. Or Batty. Bit odd to bring Dawson over and not use him.

That's 5 defeats in their last 7 Tests now for England and 11 defeats in 21 Tests for Bayliss.

Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
I think generally the pitches have been good. Certainly the vibe in the media seems to be the same, that they've been sporting. This Bombay one was the first one that crumbled first and even then Root and Bairstow showed if you were positive you could bat on it.

Selection for this test backfired for England in terms of the 4 pacers, but you can also make a case that in the previous matches, Shami and Yadav have bowled better than the English seamers. Botham and Willis seemed to agree after the 3rd test.

Sven Roeder 10:54 Mon Dec 12
Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
Dropped Kohli on 68, Jayant on 8 and Vijay should have been stumped in the 40's.
Could have been a different match. Not picking 4 seamers might have helped.

To be honest I find these pitches where you need 3 spinners a bit tiresome and make for frustrating cricket. I expect Australia will get a similar beating when they go to India in February.

On the positive side for England finding Hameed and Jennings is a bonus and when they can get back on proper Test cricket wickets and can select one spinner their team looks a lot better.

paolo 9:22 Mon Dec 12
Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
Cricket is now a homer sport and all too predictable. With no decent spinners always going to lose this series comfortably.

It is what it is.

Sven Roeder 9:07 Mon Dec 12
Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
Jimmy Anderson reckons Kohli hasn't really improved. It's just that the conditions mask his technical deficiencies.
Also on Ashwin & Jadeja " I'm not sure they're too difficult to handle".
Anderson hasn't taken a wicket in the last two Test matches.

Re: India vs England 4th Test Mumbai
Strange defeat. E were competitive having scored 400 then having them 300-6, yet managed to lose by an innings. Just got to admit that this series Kohli has been too good for us.

From cricinfo:

This is only the third time a team batting first has made 400 and then lost by an innings (England twice and Sri Lanka once)
